2003 Silverado Electrical Issue

Hello,

I was testing the power to the glovebox light (which was 14.4v) when I inadvertently toughed the probes together on the meter. Now the voltage is 5.3 volts.

There are several issues that together may indicate what has blown.

The glove box light does not work.
The reading lights (front and rear) will not work with the individual switches.
The rear cargo light does not work.
When the truck is running, and any of the reading light switches are pushed, the glove box is opened, or the cargo light switch is pushed the radio stops working, and I get nothing but static.
The reading lights all come on when the doors are opened, or when the dome light switch is turned on.

I have not found a fuse blown anywhere, but I also do not know what is on the circuit with the glove box light.

Everything else electrical in the truck works. (seats, AC, seat heaters, wipers, radio, exterior lights, etc.)

Any ideas? Or does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for a 2003 1500HD crew cab?

Thanks!

Re: 2003 Silverado Electrical Issue

how is it that, you were testing the power to the glove box light ?
this is not a common issue..

fuses need be checked all with meter...glove box lamps don't have dimmer ckt...should always have power with key on or off...the power could go thru the BCM...with a relay in the bcm...first check fuses then if you can't find anything report back..

Re: 2003 Silverado Electrical Issue

It was a blown fuse. All is well.
I didn't think it would be a fuse since the lights still worked. But it was.

Thank You!
