Mazda RX-7 R1 Tamiya

I've always liked the shape of these. I wanted to go for a more unusual sort of colour and wheels. I went for an auto colour called Kingfisher blue which I think suits it well. The wheels I have chosen are Fujimi Volkmesh TE37 (I think) painted gloss white.

So far I've cleaned up the body of mould lines, primered in white, applied the blue and a top coat of clear (not polished yet).

Photos follow of progress so far with the wheels placed under the arches for effect.

All comments welcome.

Re: Mazda RX-7 R1 Tamiya

Great colour choice - it pops really well on such softly curved bodywork. I've always liked these Mazdas too, and haven't seen a build thread of this kit before, so looking forward to seeing more

I've got 3 1:24 FDs on my desk and a 1:1 in the carport. One of the best looking cars ever to make it off the drawing board. You're making great progress on this one.

Simple, clean, and lowered. Works every time.

Re: Mazda RX-7 R1 Tamiya

Thanks for the comments guys.

blwnrtr93 - I wish I had a 1:1 version, 1:24 will have to make do!

Lownslow - I will definitely detail the wheels.

tuned.by.twenty - Simple it definitely will be! I have too many others to do & not enough time, plus I'm a really slow builder! As you say if you have a good finish on top and a realistic low stance it's enough to look right.

Thumbs up Re: Mazda RX-7 R1 Tamiya

That IS a gorgeous colour...
And the white wheels just set it off perfectly.
These are a kool kit, I have another to do at some point...Are you going to add the motor ? They detail up pretty good..

Re: Mazda RX-7 R1 Tamiya

Thanks for the comments. The Celica looks great, I assume you used the Tamiya rally version? (I have one to do).

Yes the Tamiya kit has an engine. I plan to keep it simple but clean, as too many others to do in to little time.
