406 heater unit

hi all im new to this so would be over the moon if anyone can help. ive just bought a 1996 406 2.0 16v and the heater system isnt working at all i think ive checked the right fuse as it states its the one that works the reverse lights aswell ???? is there anything else i can try apart from gettin a new one thanks micky
