Extra lift 87 Cherokee???
I have an 1987 Cherokee pioneer it has a 3 1/2 inch add a leaf lift on it. It has 32 in tires right now which is fine jus for drivin around but if I add 1.75 in shackles in the back and 1 in coils spacers in the front ( to even it out a little cause the back is starting to say) to get some extra lift for the mountain would it still drive fine or you think there would he vibrations? Would I have to add or do anything extra? All Info is appreciated ... Thanks

Re: Extra lift 87 Cherokee???
I'd find a competent leaf spring shop, and have your rear springs re-arced, and a leaf added. This should restore your leaf springs to their original shape/spring and get rid of the sag for you.
In the front, I'd replace the coils. I've tried different things over the years for coil spacers, etc; but they've either fallen out, required very frequent inspection, made the springs not work the right way, or all 3 at once -- so I wouldn't go that way. You should get a couple more opinions shortly though.

Re: Extra lift 87 Cherokee???
I had 8" of lift under my 1995 Cherokee and i used spacers on top of the front springs, but they were the ones from Daystar, they rode exactly the same as when there were no spacers at all. I was completely happy with them and much cheaper than new springs. Something you'll want to consider though is if you are at 3.5" right now and you add another 1.75" you break the barrier of factory control arms(4.5"). not sure how your lift was done but if you still have factory lower control arms and add that much lift you will get a ton of bump steer and "DEATH WOBBLE." as for the rear though depending on how it was lifted in the rear ( i.e. full springs, or just blocks, or even an add-a-leaf and a block) you could replace some things to compensate. You could do what i did when mine was that size and sagging. I bought an add-a-leaf (full length) and replace the factory leaf that is closest to it in length. or even cheaper without sacrificing the ride as much you could go to your local salvage yard and buy factory rear springs from another cherokee, and add leaves accordingly to conpensate as well as increase you towing weight capabilities. shackles however unless you have new springs (lifted or not) have a tendensy to add additional leverage over the spring in the axle's favor, by adding the lift load to only one side of the spring thus causing an increase for breakage. I had to help tow a guy out to the main road because he was running factory springs with 3" shackles and it caused his main leaf (w/ bushings) to snap at the u-bolt plate.
all in all front spacers in my opinion are fine, and rear add some leaves from another set because you may be opening up a can of worms. lift kits were designed specifically for a designated height, the higher you go the more you'll need in the kit. otherwise the big lift kit wouldn't cost sooooo much. if you are determined to go higher however let me know i can give you a list of what you'll need to keep everything safe.
