4l60e, 4l65e, 4l70e ?
Okay, I know that the '99-03 have the 4L60E transmission and the '03-06 have the 4L65E and the '07 and up have the 4L70E. What are the main differences between the three ? And what makes the 4L80E so much stronger ?
Bert 192,000 miles and still going strong!

Re: 4l60e, 4l65e, 4l70e ?
the 65 is is a little stronger and updated 60, and the 70 an updated 65 also I think.
As far as the 80's internals don't know, never been in one, but they are physically bigger , as in bigger cases, so to me that means beefier internals. I also think that the tourqe convertor is a little bigger in diameter, that makes it easier to make it more effecient, so there IS less power loss through it.

your 80's mainly come in the hd series pickups. its mated to the 6.0L engines. Only thing bigger is the allison trans and those come on the DMax's and 8.1L's to my knowledge
