Alignment Problem
Need some help with a mystery. I bought a 1995 K1500 SB, pulls to the right so I had a mechanic check it and he said the ineer and outer tie rod ends on pass side were bad. Replaced them and still pull to the right. I took it to a very reputable alignment shop. They have the right tie rod ends adjusted clear in till they are touching in the sleeve. Caster/camber is good. Right tire is still toed out? Left side is spot on. No sign of bent parts, frame is not kinked, tie rod ends are correct parts?
Anyone have any ideas? Only option at this point is to cut 1/2" of threads off of tie rod end? Thanks, Larry |

Quote:
get a tape measure and compare old with new tie rods...If I did this job the old inner out tie rod would be removed complete...then the new would be adjusted to the same length,,then install... with the steering wheel dead on straight the front tires tires should be parrallel to each other.. as for the pulling to the right this to me would indicate that the right camber is off...ball joints worn ...etc... is this some tire shop alignment/ repair ? if so this is no surprise to me...its screwed up... the control arm bushings are also in need of inspection for damage. |

Re: Alignment Problem
make sure you get your alignment dead on if you still have a pull issue and your ball joints are good, then try moving your front tires around from side to side. if the pull moves to the other direction then you know its a tire and not the alignment.

Re: Alignment Problem
It may even be that you have two different brand tires on either side. Swap 'em left to right and see if it changes.
Also, as mentioned, check the ball joints and control arm bushings, and...why not?...the sway bar end links These can really throw your alignment out of whack. I'm surprised that the mech shops didn't bother to check these or at least mention that they were okay.
