06 Cobalt: Theft Deterrent

My 06 Chevy Cobalt will not start.

I left the lights on yesterday and so when it would not start, I figured that was the problem. However, it'd been less than an hour so I was surprised that the battery was dead so quickly. Regardless, I tried to jump start it but had no luck. It was only after that failed that I noticed a flashing icon on the dash. It was a car with what looked like a pad lock around it.

Flipping through the manual, I learned that this icon flashes due to something have to do with the anti theft deterrent prompted by something with the keyless entry. I don't have a remote so that doesn't make any sense. What else could have caused this? How can I fix this?

I called the dealership this morning and they said we'd have to have it towed in for them to diagnose any issues. Is that necessary? Thoughts? Ideas?

Please help me! Thank you!
