Transmission

I have a 1993 C1500 with a 4L60E trans and 305 engine. Will the 4L60E trans from a 2001 firebird with a V6 be the same?

Re: Transmission

Your best source for that kind of info would be a dismantelers (junk yard). They have books on unit compatibility.

Re: Transmission

No. A 1993 will ONLY interchange with a 1994. Likewise a 1994 will only interchange with a 1993. The electronics are different in the later models.

Re: Transmission

Pulse width modulation started in the later models. So the computers are also different along with the valve bodies.

You went and made things complicated, why couldn't you just say that 93 and 94 models were interchangeable and newer models wouldn't work.
1995 was the first year for the PCM TCC solenoid and 96 had the 3-2 downshift solenoid as PCM.

Don't try to deny that you post on chevytalk

Complicated??? That was just making it easy to understand for some people. Now, if that easy post was too complicated for you....... dont know what to say about that other than sorry, cant make it any easier.
Did I post the wrong information??

Chevytalk? Yep, I do post there too. I also post on The old wrench, and Trust My Mechanic, in fact, I'm a moderator there. Come by and join in with us.

Re: Transmission

No, as usual your info is dead on, just thought saying 93 and 94 were interchangeable was a simpler way.

Actually, I should post on less forums, then I have more time for other things, like roofing the house, pulling the radiator out of an old tractor for my dad, and pulling the head off my 91 toyota and get it running again. I hate working 5 days a week, until February I had been working 3 12 hour days for the past 12 years
