98 taurus HUGE electrical problems

Hi i have a 98 taurus wagon. Whenever i shift into gear many electrical problems start. The lights on my lock and window switches go out. the windows wont work, all the functions of the radio work, but no sound. the wipers wont work on delay, and the powersteering gets very weak. I also sometimes hear a clicking noise coming from the dash. when i shift back into park or neutral everything goes back to normal. all this happened suddenly, and i am stumpped. please HELP!!!

Welcome to the forum!

Your electrical issues sound pretty consistent with what some others have found due to a faulty Transmission Range Sensor (TRS). Try searching the forum for the keyword 'range'.

Re: 98 taurus HUGE electrical problems

Nope. It's basically a Park/Neutral safety switch. Search the forum and read up on what others have found. It's not a "sensor" like many of the other sensors on the car.
