Transfer case problem
99 Suburban LT 4wd 4" lift kit with upgraded front drive shaft(2 joints to insure proper allignment). I had the tc replaced about 5 years and 60k miles ago for about $2000. Recently
I started hearing a clunking noise from drive line. Went under car and found that the front drive shaft has about 1/4" to 1/2" of play where it meets the tc also the tc is leaking. So two questions am I looking at a new tc or is this a repairable condition also is 2k a fair price for a new tc installed? Thanks |

Re: Transfer case problem
way too much money. You can do it yourself and have a completely rebuilt transfer case for $400-$500.
If I had to buy one, I would get a rebuilt unit and they are $600-$700, and I wouldnt pay more than $300 for labor.
