i bought a new 03 lancer and had my grandpa put it on his insurance as the primary driver an me as a secondary driver. an it is 474 a month for my car and a 96 izusu pickup btw im 17 so that has alittle bit to do with it.

It's probably because of what you have covered and what you're required to cover on a new car. I bet the premium would be far less if the car were older than 3 years or so.

Thats bloody good for someone under 25, and with a new car!
At 23 I was paying 1,000 for full cover on my now dead 90 SiR Civic.
Just wait till you turn 25, the cost will go down even more.

For the yanks thats about US$4-500.

that all depends where u live
and how the company sees their claim statistic on that make/model

at 18 i was paying A$1500 for a 3 year old (1995) ford mondeo LX and i wasnt the primary driver either but the good thing now is RACV gave me a rating 1 straight away where as a lot of other insurance only gives me rating 3 at A$1900
