98 Lumina - A few problems...

Two things I have noticed develop within the past week or so @ 209,000 miles:

1) Whenever I accelerate from a dead stop sometimes my Lumina will kind of jerk as it switches from first gear to second. After that it's smooth sailing. Sometimes it will not jerk at all, it all depends really. It can be felt all through the car. When at a dead stop, the transmission shifts aren't the smoothest in the world. They can be felt rather easily, kinda of clunky to say the least. They sort of feel like the jerk, except much lighter.

2) I'm getting hesitation during acceleration mainly between 40-50ish. It takes a second or two for the engine's RPMs to increase when compared to the position of the pedal. It's not horrible, but this coincides with my decreased MPG as of late. Grrr!

I just recently cleaned out the EGR, changed the fuel filter, Seafoamed the engine, crankcase, and fuel system. Plugs were replaced at 200,000.

Any ideas? I'm beginning to think this is a transmission issue...

You put Seafoam in the crankcase? Have you checked fuel pressure, plug wires, run a good fuel system cleaner through lately?

Plug wires are new and I did a 3-part Seafoam cleaning about a month ago. I have not checked fuel pressure though.
