Unhappy 91 cutlass ciera 3.3

145,000 miles

Ok so i bought this car for school about a year ago. It always had a slight shimmer when turning the steering wheel right (the people i bought it from said it was the halfshaft). I replaced the halfshaft, strut, strut mount and ball joint(passanger side). But now after all that its making an even bigger rubbing sound. Like rubber grinding. I push down on the front end and it feels like the strut is sticking.. I can visibly see the shimmer of the strut when i push it down.

I doubt its the new strut because it was making that sound before the new one. It may be the rubber part of the strut mount rubbing againt the shaft of the strut. The little metal peice(that the strut sits on) in all the way down into the two rubber sides and the rubber could be tight against the shaft?

Being in school full-time its hard to find time to work on it. Please let me know what it could be

From here diagnosing this is tough, if it is only when the suspension is bounced have someone rock the car while you pinpoint the source, check the lower arm bushings also. The upper strut mount can be bad but that makes noises turning.

Thanks for the reply.

The thing that gets me is that i replaced the strut mount(and the halfshaft) trying to fix this problem cause that's what i thought was wrong, but the new mount made the noise worse.

What if i brought it to a shop? Will they charge me an arm and a leg just to tell me whats wrong with it?
