Passenger Sliding Door
I have a 1999 Olds Sil. The sliding door worked perfectly until a friend decided to pull the door shut instead of using the buttom. Now it does not work properly. I have already tried the method of taking out the 10 amp fuse, waiting 30 seconds and placing again then waiting 10 seconds. This did not help. Tried this maybe ten times. It seems to have actually gotten worse. I read back in the history of the forum and there was a very long technic but you have to have the scanner. I do not. Already tried and left the battery unhooked for about 10 hours. No help. The contacts have been cleaned with electrical cleaner and so has the rollers and area that they move in. Any clue?

Re: Passenger Sliding Door
The module for the sliding door retains codes which may help in finding the fault.
At least my 2000 did. It's behind the right hand inside panel. The Haynes manual shows how to get at it.

Re: Passenger Sliding Door
Do you hook to something at the motor or the usual spot under the dash. I took the panel off and I see the big adjusting nut for the cable tension.

You can try to adjust the tension on the cable but do so in very small increments. Too tight and the cable could snap.

Re: Passenger Sliding Door
Tried to adjust the cables. Did tight, loose, medium. Only difference was when made real loose, it did not hardly move at all. put it back to tight and still have the same result as orignal issue. Will not close all the way. Then will not open only except after you pull the fuse and do the recycling program again. Is there something in the clutch system to align? What is the propose of the optical sensor that reads the holes in the back motor? Are there suppose to be special markings for this device to read? Hooked up a scanner to it and got no codes. Which item makes the high pitch sound? The motor humms, but will it did work it amade a different type of high pitch sound. I am not getting that sound.

You may have to take the van to a reputable independent shop to fix this.
