Fog Light ughh
Hey Guys
I'm trying to get off a pair of fog lights off a 94-95 escort gt for my LX. For the life of me they would not unbolt. I got under, i used a socket and kept on turning it and it would only turn but wont actually untighten. Is there something keeping the bolt maybe a nut that i cant see. If so..how would i get to it? Thanks, Chris

Re: Fog Light ughh
Its likely there is a metal 'speed nut' that has rusted onto the bolt, and then broken free of whatever metal 'finger' kept it from moving when it was installed. Sometimes you have to drill such bolts out to get things apart. I start with a very small drivel (like a 3/32" drill). Once I have a hole through the bolt, I use successively larger drills, untill the bolt falls apart. Its tedius.

Re: Fog Light ughh
Nut behind the surface may be turning with the bolt. Could also be that some uneven thread stripping has occured. Sometimes I'm able to get such bolts out by prying underneath the head with a big thick flathead screwdriver as I try to back it out. Penetrant lubricant and letting it sit also helps. Otherwise you'll have to figure out whether or not there is some way to secure the loose nut that could be on the other side.
