2001 Silverado, suddenly stalls. Fuel, no spark
My 2001 Silverado, (3/4 ton 6.0L gas, 91,000 miles) had died on me the last 4 times I have driven it. Originally I though it was a fuel delivery issue, but I have fuel. ( I haven't checked the pressure, though). It will run for 10-15 minutes then die suddenly. turns over just fine, but will not start. Fuel pump is turning on, have fuel in the rail. Until today, it would finally start after 30 minutes -1 hour, but today it is still not running after 1+ hours.
Help!! I am hoping for a non-costly fix, out of work and this is not a good time for a several hundred dollar repair. Thanks for any suggestions. |

it is located under the starter motor..check wires connector ,replace...sensor...these I have seen fail after they heat up..intermittent low output failures.. checking the fuel pressure is needed with a pressure guage ! |

would a crank position sensor failure act differently than a cam position failure?

Re: 2001 Silverado, suddenly stalls. Fuel, no spark
I've got to get a pressure meter from AutoZone, but their seems to be good pressure at the schrader valve, it comes out with some force, not just dribbling out.
I climbed under there today, I can't see anything behind the starter, although I see wires that go back behind the starter. Would I have to remove the starter to replace the sensor? are their any tricks to getting to the sensor. Sorry if these are stupid questions, I've not done this before. What is DTC? (check engine codes??) |

Re: 2001 Silverado, suddenly stalls. Fuel, no spark
Fuel pressure is 55psi. Has 2 codes, is this order:
P0300 - random multiple cylinder misfire P0335 - Crankshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction. I'm going to go ahead and buy/install the crankshaft position sensor. It seems logical that the malfunction is a result of overheating, it runs for a while, shuts down and will only begin running again when the engine has cooled off. I'm going to assume the 0300 code is a result of the 0335; Thanks for your guidance. Hopefully this fixes it. |

Re: 2001 Silverado, suddenly stalls. Fuel, no spark
she's running great, but I still am getting the P0300 code. I'll try changing the plugs and see what happens.

thats great this all is in line with my cranksensor failures... next is replace plugs and get oil changed...this should do it...don't want all that unburned fuel to contaminate the oil then damage the engine... |
