95 F150...audio help
My buddy has a 1995 F150 Eddie Bauer with a factory cd player. We're trying to put in an aftermarket cd player. Simple? Yeah. Right. The truck has premium audio...which no audio buffs or mechanics can find information saying that ford had premium in '95. I havn't found any wiring diagrams for it, no history, nothng. He bought a wiring harness that has the same power harness as any other for this era but the speaker harnes is not the flat rectangular harness it's a small square one. I wired the harness and plugged it all in and it has no sound. I'm told the only way to wire these is to bypass the factory amp. I don't have a problem doing this but...where is the factory amp??? I don't want to tear the whole thing apart.
Also...has anyone seen this befoe? I had a guy tell me it might be a factory setup from a later year...but that sounds far fetched to me. |

Re: 95 F150...audio help
Call any Ford dealership's parts department and they should be able to tell you the exact location of the amp. Thats what I do when I have no idea where something is.

Re: 95 F150...audio help
My son had a truck with the same audio setup. We found an adapter at Best Buy that patches the new audio player wiring to the original harness.

Re: 95 F150...audio help
if you are only looking to plug and play this may not help you , but when i can't find a diagram to match a wiring harness i hardwire it in. testin to find the speaker wire first and working my way back to the bigger and more important ones. the easiest way the find out which ones are the speakers is to strip the ends of all the unknown wires and you can have the truck off for this, take a 12 volt portable drill battery and start touching wires to the leads (this will NOT hurt your truck or the speakers) there will be a pop sound coming from the spreaker when you get the positive and negative from the same speaker.
