Emergency HELP HELP

hi ther
a couple months ago i was driving my car and then i left the light on for like a week without knowing. When i realized that i left it on my car wouldn't start. So 2 months later i got a boost from a friend of mine and he said that the battery looked fine and the car started and i was tring to park it when it stopped on the middle of the street. So i boosted it again n left it on for like 40 minutes. But when i turn my car off the car won't start until i get a boost again. what do you think i should do? i can't go to a mechanic because i don't have insurance on it and i want to know if i should get a new battery and replace the old one. But my friend said that the problem could be in the alternator. So do u guys know if the problem is in the alternator or not. What should i do. give me advice please i need it.
and aremember i can't go to a mechanic
thanks alot for your help

Re: Emergency HELP HELP

If the battery was dead and the alternator was not charging than the car would not have run for 40 minutes on its own. The battery is probably junk and the alternator is probably fine.

car batteries are not made to be drained completely , get a new battery problem solved.

start a car remove the batery and keep idle above 1k and it will run all day until you shut it off.....

Take to autozone I beleave that they will check the alternator and the battery for free, I think not sure, And they will sell you any parts you need.
