nitrous spray bar, meth

For anyone who knows a lot about nitrous and meth kits, this should be easy to answer.

I wanted to know what the difference is in getting a nitrous spray bar kit, or a meth kit.

I know what both of them do, but does anyone know which is a better choice? I mean they both act to cool the intake charge correct? but the spray bar just cools the intercooler right? So, could you have both? Or is one sufficient for what its doing?

IF I were to say go with the spray bar kit, bc I do want this turbo nitrous kit which sprays until you hit peak boost, would I be able to use one bottle for two things? on the motor, and on the spray bar?

Or, just a combo of nitrous for the engine, and a seperate meth kit...

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

I heard IC coolers are a waste. Meth seems to be a good choice.

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

I wouldn't say they are a waste. Turbo cars are always battleing cooling the intake charge more. An intercooler sprayer will cool iats down. Meth will also do the same but at the same time increase your octane rating slightly. So you could use both if you wanted to. The only thing I have against the intercooler sprayer is nitrous refills are so expensive. Its normally 3-4$ a pound which is 40$ for 1 tank refill. I pay less than 2$ a gallon for meth which lasts for a month or two.

I would say depending on how efficient your setup is you may not even need extra cooling. Until you actually lot your air temps you won't know. Also you can use 1 bottle to inject nitrous and run the sprayer

ok that what i was wondeirng, i may just scrap the spray bar idea...if meth is sufficiant. this is of coarse down the road, if theres room for it after its all tuned up...

thanks!

Did you make an air dam?

I wont explain, but the link will very easily
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=762473

From what the tests have shown from others, intake temp is only a few degrees over ambient temp.

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

An air damn would usually be a piece of metal underneath the car, mounted under radiator to "scoop" up some air and flow between the IC and the radiator or to scoop up air into the engine bay. The reduces engine temps slightly, especially if you still have your A/C core. There's a big write up about it on Tuners.

Not sure however, what that has to do with anything that your talking about

Wow, same time response lol. The above link is more of an air box, although with the scoop in it I guess it can be classified in the same way.

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

It does help lower air temps, however he has a 420a not a 4g63. I would suggest moving your filter out of the engine bay if at all possible. I did notice a little gain in HP after that.

SGanc4life - Those recorded temps are taken at the maf. Those temps may not even be close to what is actually going into the motor. But the intake temps going into the turbo will be lower which is a good thing

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

Ok I was hoping this would come up. I have a question about that...

Weapon R makes this ram air flex tube that attaches to the end of your performance filter, and you can position it so that air is hitting it...anyways, I was wondering, if any of you had done this or something similar, and will ramming air like that into the filter really do much more than not? If this is worth while, and I were to get it and place it behind the smaller hole on the side of the front bumper, is there some way to prevent moister or rain from getting pushed through and into the turbo?

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

Having cooler air flowing into your engine is always a better thing. As for the moisture prevention I really have no clue about that except for maybe taking it off if you have to drive in heavy rain.

Personally, I would do a DIY with the "air dam" I was speaking of or maybe something similar to what you're talking about. The water thing would be my reason for option 1.

Re: nitrous spray bar, meth

Just put the filter in the bumper and it will be fine. No reason to run that rediculous tube to the filter. I highly doubt you will see anygains. I did however notice a good gain when moving the filter off the turbo to inside the fender. Faster spool and produced another .5-1psi or so.
