95 impreza L 1.8, starter?

anyone here give me advice on changing out my starter on my 95 imprezaL wagon 1.8. manual transmition. I woke up this morning. went to turn over the engine and i heard the wonderful grinding of my starter. I shut if off. and tried again and the car started. but there no doubt the starter is on its way out. Im going to buy the replacement, and keep the tools on me, til it goes. anyone have any info on where i can locate the starter and what it entails. or should i just bring it to a mechanic. is it a job that isnt to difficult or is a mechanic call?

I'm not 100% on your year but in general they are located on the driver side going under the firewall a bit. They aren't as hard as some i've done but they can be difficult. You should be able to do it yourself.
