03 Denali Xl rear shocks

OK,
I just noticed that the rear shocks on my '03 denali xl were showing signs of leaking. Has anyone replaced theirs yet?
Thanks,
Will

Well.it's an automatic leveling air ride type suspension...not a normal shock.

There are several option for replacements ranging from $ 625.00 each (yes that's right EACH) to an aftermarket kit by Bilstien $ 379.00 for the pair.

I just wanted to see if anyone has done it and what special things I should be aware of.

Do you have any experience with changing these shocks?

Re: 03 Denali Xl rear shocks

did you ever get an answer on this question. I have just noticed that I have not heard the compressor in the back running for a while....I think I either need to replace the compressor or the shocks....hopefully not both.

Yes ,
I did finaly get the Bilstien kit. There is a difference in that the kit has 2 sensors that need to be mounted near the new shocks in order to fool the suspension system computer since they're not factory shocks.
All in al,l they seem to have better ride characteristics than the old ones. I never had the problem where the compressor didn't come on..my problem was it ran all the time.
Good luck and I would think your problem is the compressor ??
Check the shocks at the rubber boots to see if there's oil on them, if so you'll need to replace them.

Thanks....it has been a few months, but seems like my compressor was running alot too....I am assuming that it must have burnt up. I may have to replace all of it....oh what joy.

The good thing is, neither part is hard to get to..pretty easy repairs...but expensive.
