Re: 2001 fuel pump bad

one way would be to disconnect the pressure line @ the filter and place a hose on line and put in large gas can and cycle the key on and off alot,or run 12v to the pump relay and let the pump do the work.but as I write this I am wondering if the pump works at all, lol. If thats the case then an auxillary pump down the filler tube or remove the big filler hose at the tank and pump from there cause u may have a rollover device in the filler tube which will prevent u from putting hose down neck.

Re: 2001 fuel pump bad

If you have a floor jack and you're working from a garage floor, you could safely support the vehicle on jack stands, then use the floor jack with a block of wood to help lower the full fuel tank once you loosen the straps and connections. This will take two people, one to control the jack and one to disconnect the electrical connections and hoses as the tank is lowered enough to reach them and balance the tank on the block of wood. It also makes sliding the tank from under the vehicle much easier. Once you have the tank where you can get a handle on it, pour the fuel from the fill hose into an approved gas can(s) if you need to. Or you could just sit the tank on the floor, blow off the area around the fuel pump hole and replace the pump assembly. Then use the floor jack and friend to install the tank back in to the car.
