01 durango turn signal problems.....

let me start by explaining completely what i did on my 01 durango my turn signals stopped working even the hazards so i was told to to replace the turn signal relay so i remove the panel under the steering wheel as soon as i removed the panel the turn signals started flashing so checked them right left etc they were working then as i was about to replace the panel they stopped working i got under and moved some of the wires out of the way they started working again then they stopped again so i removed the turn signal relay and replaced it with a new one they still wouldn't work so i looked in the relay's base housing unit i saw what looks like some rust or corrision in the connectors where the relay is plug in any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
