security system woes

I have a 99 4d 4wd lt with factory fitted keyless entry. The car now doesn t respond to the keyfobs, batteries in both are good, the doors don t open with the fobs and they don t turn off the anti theft system so the car doesn t start. With the key in the ignition and turned on, the security light on the dash is lit, not flashing. My shop manual says nothing about the system, is this a simple fix or is it going to be a pita and expensive, anyone know anything about this? I can t even get the car to a garage unless its put on a trailer, more cost. Thanks anyone.
