Exhaust hanger

FYI... exhaust hangers can be found at Advance Auto Parts in Florida. Probably at many other chains as well. Perfect match and costs a few bucks.

Re: Exhaust hanger

Jim, per my other thread this is Panoz's price:

GTR9-3609 Exhaust Hanger $6.39
I ordered it because the previous owner decided to use bailing wire to hold the exhaust to the frame.

I'm following Brian's lead on most of this stuff, in trying to buy from PAD

Re: Exhaust hanger

Yeah, you reminded me that I meant to share that. I buy stuff from PAD as well but in a pinch it's nice to know where to get something. What's wrong with bailing wire? Maybe he was trying to "safety wire" the exhaust?

Re: Exhaust hanger

I'll refrain from telling you where he could put that wire. :sarcasm1:

Re: Exhaust hanger

Jim,

If thats the style hanger you are going to use you better get some spares. I went through several of those hangers. The issue I had was they do not flex they are designed to hang a tail pipe that does't move.

Wess your previous owner had the right idea with the tie wire. If I had to guess that repair was made at the track and he used what ever materal he had and it worked so he didn't change it.

Re: Exhaust hanger

David

if you get some decent motor mounts, you won't be breaking exhaust hangers all the time. The engine wasn't meant to hang from the headers by a rubber band.

Re: Exhaust hanger

David, thanks for your advice. I just replaced what I saw with the same part. It looked like it failed due to just being old. I think I am going to replace the motor mounts as well though. But I think that will happen when I go ahead and put the 351 in.

Re: Exhaust hanger

Jim,

The mounts on my car are from 1966 mustang they only come in stock form (rubber) I broke the passanger side at RA. I don't think I ever broke a passanger side mount before.

Those kind of things happen when you try to keep up with me. Better get it fixed before Barber.

Re: Exhaust hanger

I am pretty sure that PAD sells these for the 351W GTS:
