timing chain

how often should the timing chain be changed? any specific guideline?

Depends on make of vechicle and engine,check your owners manual.Or post with more detailed information.

It does depend on the engine. But since you're posting this in the Regal forums I'm betting the engine you are questioning is either a 2.8L/3.1L/3100 V6 or the 3800 V6 engine

The answer for those engines is pretty much never. They are intended to be maintenance-free and last the life of the engine/vehicle. Only replace it if it is known to be bad/worn and you plan on driving the vehicle for a long time or if you already have the engine removed for other repairs and there is a fair amount of mileage (i.e. >150K miles) on it.

It doesn't need to be replaced for the purpose of preventative maintenance like older engines.
