Question How fast is your civic?

OKay, i get alotta $hi* from these domestic/hotrod/muscle car riders, mostly teens. They always say sh** about our little "rice burners" or "rice rockets". I respect hotrods and muscle cars because they are very fast and it takes alot of time to make it fast. So i want to see how fast your "Street" civic is, not drag, street.

speedwise, my civic is pretty damn near stock, running 127bhp and 16.7@87 mph 1/4mi. 0-60 9flat. Planning on getting H/E to go with My I/ in which case my #'s will go up, but no real improvements until heads or F/I, which I plan on getting this summer and next.

My boss's kid has a civic just like mine tho that he tested in Memphis last week and he ran 13.9 in the 1/4mi. and he had turbo but it wasn't really good for street as he had cut springs and all that sht.

Civics aren't made for speed, I've had mine to 120 and it took about 2 hours to get it there. :o

Civics arent MADE for speed but you can MAKE them for speed if you choose. I have a slow civic, I only have catback exhaust on mine.

I gaurentee you a civic with 10g's in engine parst will smoke any domestic hotrod. IF you have an si, strap on the turbo, and anyhting else you can get your hands on. For other civics get an engine swap then a turbo, and show those hot roddes a thign or two. Just remeber there is a replacement for displacement... BOOST

u still aint gonna be that fast with a swap turbo. say u get a b18c then turbo it. what u gonna run low 13s high 12s or soemthing like that. well a stock camaro z28 runs with high 13s or something. if he gets i/h/e he would be just as fast if not faster. so civics arent as fast as people think they are

just remember, a muscle car will always be faster than a civic

I'm not gonna say that imports are better than domestics... but you gotta admit that these little 4 cylinder motors are a lot more efficient. Honda designed these motors incredibly well... with a lot more power per cylinder and per liter than a lot of domestics... if not most.

You gotta consider that a lot of these V8 muscle cars, though fast, are fast mainly because they have twice the number of cylinders than we do.

Either way... you can make domestics fast... and you can make imports fast. My Civic was created w/ the economy in mind... so I'm not gonna tell you that it's fast, because it's not. But I have several friends who own 13 second street civics. Now... 13 seconds may not seem impressive to a lot of people... but come on... these are 4 cylinder grocery getter civics! That's impressive to me.

I can't afford a Camaro Z28... but my 3,000 dollar Civic was very affordable. Yeah... I've put about 15,000 bucks into it over the course of 3 years... but that was 3 years of reliable transportation, so I can't complain.

I'm sure my situation is the same as many.

yeah speed isn't everything. I've spent maybe $10,000 all told on my civic (including repair damage) over the almost 3 years I've had it. And why? Sure as hell not cuz I was zippin around all over the drag strips! I love my car cuz it NEVER fails to start, NEVER konks out on me, and was so damn cheap! Plus with the continuing CHEAP upgrades (as compared to domestics) my car is "smarter", better looking, and just plain better. Not to mention my gas mileage is WAY better than most domestics, which is great since gas prices are shooting through the fricken roof!

And if you ask me, even though I itch sometimes to make my car faster, it really is fast enough for most of what I do. Doesn't stop me from making it better tho he he he
