Car Auction?

hey guys, I am pretty new to the scene - but I registered with an auction site to take a look at surplus cars - which from what I hear are better than anything you can buy in a lot. I would like to know if any of you have attended a police auction - I joined a site that sells surplus government vehicles and they definitely have a HUGE list of cars, which is awesome. I would like some stories though of people who HAVE went to auctions.

Re: Car Auction?

I don't personaly know much about these car auctions kinda curious aswell. if the cars have a clean record and run good then it seems like a good "steal".

Re: Car Auction?

You're new to the scene ?, yer right " lol " and you would like some stories from people whom have went to auctions. I have plenty, let's start with this one.

Unfortunately my daughters boyfriend is already in over his head after paying $5000 for a 02 civic that won't pass inspection due to the frame being bent, cracked & basically patched together . The auction of course sold the car 'as is' & the mechanic on the premesis raved about what great condition the car was in. Being a first time buyer of any vehicle let alone from an auction he was sold because the car looked really nice not knowing what lies beneath. Does he have any recourse to get his money back? He's 20 & in college so can't afford to throw money down the drain. A body shop said it would cost about another $5k to fix the frame! Any advice would be appreciated

It's buyers beware buying from any public auction, only an idiot surfing the internet will end up paying for a registration to locate an auction site or become a member, all advertised public auction sites on the Internet
ARE SCAMS,,, except Vintage.

As a habit I tune into AF once a day and been watching your posts, with pleased results " you're good and doing excellent answers " if time on my hands I answer a question or two that I find interesting, and this entry got me a bit confused.

Where does something like " a " $90 per day fee come into play, or any fee for that matter ? also please explain the 30 day grace period buying from your area compared to any other where I think it does not exist.

PS, I have read about something like this 30 day grace, but I don't think auctions come into play, even in your area.

Re: Car Auction?

Yea I don't know if it aplys to auctions, I know with new cars theres a set time period in which you can back out of a car buying contract for a set fee. my moms BMW for example was something like 30 days, $90 per day. And I'm not sure if theres any set law on it but from what I understand, there is in my area.

and good to know
