my 90 civic si with b16a has been refusing to start and run for a long time now. i cant find the frequently asked questions area, although i see people talking bout it a lot so here it is. now my main relay is buzzing, before the light on my ecu was solid red. im sure next time i go to the garage it will do something else retarded. ALL I WANT TO DO IS RIP IN MY HATCH AGAIN HELP

Re: bunch of problems
this compilation will help you a lot.
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/faq.html#mastertop main relay is not that expensive. took me only about 20 minutes to replace it on 91 civic. |

Re: bunch of problems
i have a new main relay as well as about 5 spares from the junkyard. i been swapping them in and out to no avail. same problem. also the check enginr light on the dash seems to be on allthe time but no codes are flashing on ecu.

Re: bunch of problems
sounds like you missed a ground or something... check the one on the thermostat housing... that would be my guess

Re: bunch of problems
Ya, definitely sounds like a ground issue. Make sure you have both the ground on the head to the chassis and the one for the starter on the passengers side. If you are missing one of those then you will get some weird issues like that.

Re: bunch of problems
so. i also agree that it sounds like a ground problem. all the grounds are there and unchanged from when the car ran. i found the other night while troubleshooting that when i hit the brake pedal the red light on the ecu goes out, something ckicks in my seatbelts and some beeping goes off. so i did some main relay swapping and now the red light does not stay red, it flashes as if normal when the key is turned on. car still wont start though. whats the brake pedal have to do with this? help
