oil pump replacement
can i replace my oil pump with the engine still in? if so how?

Normally you have to pull the bolt in the motor mounts and raise the motor about 4 inches. Put a 4x4 blocks under the mounts. Watch close as you are picking up the engine you don't break anything. Loosen transmission mount bolt also.

The answer is no and the book says to pull the engine.

Actually, yes you can! Have done it but you have to pull the distributor because it will bend before you get the engine high enough.

He probably has low oil pressure. Probably the bearings.

Davescort97: It could be any number of things actually, up to and including simply having sludge in the bottom of the oil pan...been there on that one myself.
