Weird Brake Problem with my G6

I have G6 and am having a weird problem with the brakes. When I turn on the car the brakes comes on even the brake lights in the back are lit and all this without pressing on the brake pedal and because of this I can not change gears (automatic) so I end up being stuck places for almost 20 min sometimes, and this problem happens often but not always. And when I press the brake pedal the light brakes turns off (like what??) but after a little bit it all goes back to normal and am able to change gears again…well until the next time I place it on park…so sad

Re: Weird Brake Problem with my G6

I've heard of this before. It mainly affected the 05's and early 06's and in some rare cases 08's. I can't remember if there is a recall or just a service bulletin about it, but if i remember correctly it has to do with the sensor for the brake pedal that causes the brake lights to be lit at all times and car not shifting into gear. If I can find more info, I'll post it back here.

UPDATE: there are one of two main possible causes to your problem. Either the Brake light switch is malfunctioning causing the issue, or your BCM is malfunctioning. Good luck!
