odd 2002 ranger clutch problem

Hi I'm new to the forum. My problem is that the clutch works opposite from the way it is supposed to work. With the clutch out it will shift into gear but will not engage unless you push the clutch in. it is entirely opposite. As far as I know it has not had any previous work. But am not 100% sure about that. Any ideas? I bought the truck knowing the clutch had a problem.

I would sugest that you take apart the clutch/disc assemble and inspect it, because that is not normal.

Yah its probably going to end up at that. But I thought maybe someone else came across this type of problem and could give some simpler advice.

The clutch release bearing and the pressure plate must have been put in backwards if such a thing is possible. Let us know how this comes out. I've never heard of such a thing.

Or they most've put a pull type pressure plate. Because this types of plates work in the oposite maner of a normal one.
