Are you replacing the brake booster? I did that job on my 1994 Sub 6 months ago (it would hiss loud when brake was pressed), that job is a pain in the butt, easier with a 3/8 drive 15mm deep socket, and I ended up buying 4 new nuts and spring washers at Ace Hardware to make that re-installation easier.
OK, your question: first of all, I looked again at my '94 Sub, yours may be different. On mine the shaft that holds the pdeal assembly to the brake booster (goes through the white electrical "box" above the steering column, thanks GM) is tough to access. That white "box" rotates a little and clips on. There's a little clip on the end of that shaft that needs to be levered off, get a flashlight, drop light, and small mirror so you can see it, that will make it a little easier. This is tough to access, and GM apparently didn't want to drill a hole and use a cotter pin or something else, this is in a tough position blocked by the steering column, typical GM engineering, and you'll be flat or your back looking up.
