97 Ram 1500 leaks tranny fluid

After sitting for about 1 week or so, transmission fluid will leak out and I can't tell from where. Truck doesn't leak when running, there are no leaks around the pan, I check the level often. Only when it sits for a week I notice about a pint or less has leaked out. Any help out there???

Could be a bad pump bushing and seal.If this is the case, replace the torque converter too.Don't trust the old torque converter, the bushing rides on it including on the seal and you will do it all over again.

Re: 97 Ram 1500 leaks tranny fluid

i had a dodge ram 5.9L motor leak out the front of the transmission. the front seal had to be replaced. It was a lot of work.

Then I had one leak out the transmission dipstick but you can easily see the leak on that one. Then I had one leak out the rear seal where the driveshaft connects to the transmission.

if your cooling lines are not working. the ones that go to the radiator and back. you could be burning up tranny oil. what color is your transmission oil? I had to blow out the lines to the radiator and hook them back up to make sure the lines weren't blocked! i hear there is some sort of checkvalve in there that gets stuck. i never had that problem yet.

make sure your tranny oil is purple or red and not black
