96 Hyundai Cyl 1 Misfire

Hey everyone,

So, my 96 Accent GT (122k miles) daily driver has developed a misfire in cylinder 1 that I can't seem to track down.

Initially, I thought it was either the wires, coil or spark plugs, so I replaced all of those items. I figured might as well do it all, seeing how I bought the car second hand and didn't know when the last time these things were done.

Alas, that didn't solve the problem. So I did some switching around to see if I can get the misfire to move to another cylinder. No luck. Still No 1.

The next step I took was I removed the injectors and had them flowed to see if one of them was clogged or simply failed. Again, they flowed perfectly.

After that, I did a pressure check. 180psi across the board. I checked the radiator and overflow tank to see if they're was any oil in it (and vise-versa for the oil). Nothing.

I'm stumped as all get out right now. I plan on starting the car and checking the radiator for bubbles, other than I'm COMPLETELY out of ideas.

Any suggestions would be great!

I have no definitive answer, but I would suspect the coil is bad and get another one from the junkyard. Failing that, I would imagine the little wire connector plug to the coil is bad, or the ECU itself is giving bad signal. There's only so many things that can cause an electrical misfire.
