camshaft position sensor

Greetings!!

does anyone know where the camshaft position sensor is located on a 3.8 v6 buick regal 94?

any help at all would be appreciated

thanks....this car has been giving me a headache. all the symptoms point to the Crankshaft sensor so hopefully that will fix the problem.

has anyone replaced the camshaft sensor before? any suggestions which way best to remove timing cover?

Replacing the camshaft sensor doesn't require removal of the timing cover. You can get to it without removing anything and it is held in with one 10mm hex bolt.

With the way everything is wired up these days, would a failure of any type related to the multiple sensors on these cars throw a DTC and show up via the SES light?

I have a 93 and 99 Regal, and have yet to see a SES light.

sorry i meant the crankshaft sensor, the camshaft was cake. but the crank is giving me a little trouble with the crankshaft pully.

FWIW the crankshaft pulley requires a special tool... without which can make it extremely difficult to remove... from what I have read.

thanks the special tool is GM's J 37096 is suppose to keep the crankshaft from turning as the crankshaft balancer is being removed and a pulley puller to actually remove the pulley.

I am considering replacing this on my car also. Will get a quote from the dealer.

Let us know how you fare if you do it yourself. Have also considered doing this myself.
