99 GA SE v6 alternator rebuild

Hello,

Does anyone knows the bearing numbers for the inner/outter bearing on an original AC delco alternator?
Mine is really noisy, but it's working OK.

Thanks

Weber

Buy a good reman alternator with the old one on hand for a core and do it right the first time.No one rebuilds alternators anymore which is a huge waste of time. Most parts stores will tell you this

Plus a good reman has a better warranty avoiding AutoZone and Advanced for one.The alternator might go out after the bearings are replaced. It is easier to get a reman, put it on and you are done. You have lots of wated time taking all apart and you have to figure out what parts goes where

Hmmm....... I disagree on this. I have rebuilt quite a few GM and Ford alternators. Often, I can get a complete rebuild kit (bearings, brushes, regulator and/or diodes) for about $35. Including electrical testing of all componets, I can rebuild it in 15-45 minutes, depending on how corroded the screws are.

A reman Ford or GM unit usually costs me about $150 on average. So the savings are substantial, for just a small amount of work, so its definitely worth doing, so long as the parts are available.

Sometimes, if the regulator or diodes are gone, but the bearings are good, I simply replace the one offending component, for about $10-15.

I only get a reman if the housing or armeture is damaged.

Re: 99 GA SE v6 alternator rebuild

It is not worth the time to me and getting a reman is the easiest way.I do not have the time to do it and is not worth it.Price of labor is higher to rebuild it than get a reman. The price of core alternators is low, about $5.00 each for a core buyer to buy.

You cannot get bearings for them even cross referancing the original part numbers on the bearings.Tried and one parts store,a Carquest showed no bearings for them
