Ferrari 248 F1 references

Happy day for me - I got my Fujimi 248 F1 and Crazy Modeler etch set, as well as Zero Rosso Fluo paint. Very nice! Only disappointment is in the decals. I wasn't expecting tobacco, but there aren't even "red bars" (and I don't mean the bar codes - I want the Brazil scheme). I can't believe the legal piranhas had anything to do with that decision - they're just generic stripes, after all. Oh well, I'll have to paint them somehow.

Now I need some help with references. Having googled extensively I find that there are a fair number of "general" pictures of the car, but I cannot find any details regarding cockpit, engine/transmission or body details like CF textures, hub detail, etc. I know the teams tend to keep a lid on these things, but this should be in the open by now?

Does anybody have anything like that?

FWIW, there are some interesting features on the car's mods on http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/, and a nice build diary of this kit on http://www.modeling-enthusiast.net/M...248F1FU_1.html

Thanks
Graham

Even with the car being a couple of years old, Ferrari doesn't have much interest in increasing the technical information available on their F1 cars. What you find on Google is likely all there is anywhere, and it's not likely to increase in the next few years.

Best advice is don't worry too much about it. Detail the stuff you know, and make your best guess about other stuff. Fortunately there aren't many people who could prove you wrong- and they will not bother you.

The Ferrari F1 cars are actually some of the best to get references of. Two years after the cars raced they are sold to privateers in the F1Clienti program and there are events where you can get pictures of them.

Check here: http://www.gurneyflap.com/formula1ferrari.html

For a few bucks you can get a really good set of high-res photos here:

Now that was good advice, and money well spent. The pictures are excellent quality, and show more detail than I had hoped for. Every bit as good as the Formula Perfect books.
