1991 fuel pump.

I have a 1991 Chevy 3500 dually with a 454 TBI and dual tanks. I just aquired this vehicle and it has been sitting for about 6 years. It will crank and fire with starter fluid but I cannot get gas to the TBI. I was told both tanks worked when it was parked, it ran when parked. What are the chances both fuel pumps don't work? Any ideas?

All the normal checks for fuel pump operation still need to be done.The B+ via fuse the fuel relay and I believe there is only one filter even though you have two tanks. The diverter switch determines which tank is on,thats a common link as well. But you still should look at it as if you only had one pump and ask why is that pump not working you may find a common link.You may have a common grounding post to both.But both pumps could be locked, 6 years is long time to sit and you know if veh was not run with new gas from time to time you may need to take both tanks down and clear all lines and change pumps. I would check B+ and grounds first though. Your two injectors could be stuck. Do you hear pump humming when you first turn on ign key? Did you see if you had fuel pressure at TB . Good luck

Thanks for the response. No hum when the key is on under either tank. Before I go spending a bunch of money on a new pump, is there a way I can test the electrical to see if it is getting juice to the pump that may be locked up? Also, I can't hear a click when I switch tanks like on my old 78 F250 did. I assumed it was because this one is newer.
