I just went through this with my 1999 T+C van. I had a faulty wiper circuit on my old BCM and replaced it with a unit out of a wreck. The replacement unit had security. It was literally plug and play. Even the key fob worked without reprogramming. On the downside, my mileage went from 140k to 268k and the stealer won't reprogram it for me
The only way I think there would be a problem is if the donor vehicle had the alarm "armed" when it was junked. Also fyi, the replacement unit I got had the same part number but the last digit was an "E" instead of a "D", so you might be right about the firmware revision.
