Smile Radiator failure ????

The other day the wife came home & I smelled anti-freeze, (not normal) Upon checking I see the radiator is split on the side were the P/S pump cooling lines goes into the radiator.
My question is how many of you have had this problem or heard of it???

Re: Radiator failure ????

The power steering lines do not go into the radiator. You have your choice of transmission lines or oil lines. If you talking about the tank leaking where the fittings for the cooler are on the radiator its pretty common. If your talking about the tank itself physically splitting that's not uncommon either. If you're talking about the tank separating from the core that's not that uncommon.

Re: Radiator failure ????

I'm sorry oil lines. The tank split on the end by the fittings. Thanks for the input.

Year make and engine and mileage?

Most good parts places offer new replacement radiators to fix your problem.
Also a good time to do a good coolant fush and coolant hose and belt service on it.

1997 Blazer 4x4 4.3 V-6 120,000 miles. The reason I ask is I have heard this is a common problem. I just wanted to know if that is true.

If it makes you feel better join other people with rad cracking.
Plastic tank breakage or cracking is a common problem on any 8-12 year rad.
Some just last longer than others.

The fix is a new rad.

Letb us know how it goes.
