on a 1994 S10 5speed manual the fluid used is dexronIII....the fluid they now recommend because dexron III is history is this synchromesh fluid only from GM for $20.00 per qt..

I had 6qts left from my stock as many years ago I stopped using this dexron III in my automatic tranny.....

the 1994 had some small leaks and the fluid was very dark,,,replaced fluid and added 1 oz of transmedic to stop the leaks ,,,it was 2years ago and its perfect now...the old fluid caused a hard to shift condition..

what tranny is in it? name ?

with the vin number of the vehicle you will get this info from the dealership...most people put the 80-90wt into these transmissions which cause failure and leaks,,,also in an attempt to stop leaks[thicker oil]...

the use of the improper fluid will damage the bronze material used within these transmissions..I believe that your transmission does use the dexron III...and If this is not available the use of the synchromesh...

do not use the new GM dexronVI,,,this is not compatible with your manual transmission..

the housing stamp is not a good way to ID these as the case can hold diff tranny's..the TAG should be on the tail shaft area, this is used to ID these..but in this year model it is most likely a borg warner T5...
