What's the proper operating tempature
For a 99 burb 5.7. Mine runs about one light smaller line above the first larger line. What's that about 170ish or so.

this is the normal range..slight dif with the gauge is common...If the temp raises quickly then locks in at about 180deg f it is good... my 5.3L runs at 190deg F and the thermostat is a 186 deg.. |

There are two senders. One for the gauge (drivers side head) and one for the VCM (front side of intake manifold). The motor is designed and recommend for a 195 deg t-stat for the VCM to control fuel and timing. Lots of guys run 180 t-stats without problems. If you want to know what the real ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) is you'll need a scan tool that can access that info. With a 195 t-stat it should be 192-198 no-load level driving. J-Cat---Point me to where you got a 186 t-stat. I'd like to get some.

it did produce the same exact operating temp as the original...still have the original for back up/ reference... also the temp will lock in at the 190deg and thats it cold/hot outside no change once the engine is fully heated up... this also has a lifetime warrantee... you have a different engine so this may not be your correct T stat.. |
