79 cutlass will not start

The car is a 79 cutlass supreme brougham with a 403 in it.
Its a project car and it has been sitting without use since 1997.
Yesterday i tryed to start the engine, it cranked and ran poorly for couple of seconds and than stalled.
Since then it refuse to start at all.
The starter works strong, i got spark, the fuel pump is new, the pre-pump flex line is new, the metal line that goes to the carb was broken, but i bridged it with a piece of rubber fuel pipe, it works fine and has no leaks.
The engine trys to crank, but imidiatly stalls.
last time i drove the car was a mounth ago and it ran OK.

Anybody has a clue where to look for the problem?
Thanks,
Dima.

Re: 79 cutlass will not start

Check fuel pump delivery, remove the hose see if you have good flow into a container, if so suspect dirt in the carb or a blocked fuel filter in the carb inlet, all basic stuff for this carbed engine.
