please help! my 96 sportage died on the hwy and now it wont start...

we were on the hwy and when my hubby down shifted the car died, when he pushed on the gas pedal there was nothing...lights, gauges all seem to be working it just wont start just makes a noise when turning the key...like a wrrrrrr...any suggestions? We just had the A.C. fixed and we have been having a few problems with that, it clicks about every minute or so (like a switch turning on and off) under the glove box, then it is leaking water onto the passenger floor only when the A.C. is on... could this be part of the problem? please help I have no clue when it comes to foreign cars!

..mmm...very few details...what mileage? was the timing belt changed yet? If not, checkl for the timing belt, there is a high probability it just died, a "normal" event at that age. Complete kit on e-bay, with water pump, idler, tensioner, gaskets.
AS for AC, it is normal it turns ON and OFF when it works. ANd the water dripping is normal..except it should drip outside, not inside the car, THe drain is blocked....a known occurrence. Get under the car, find the end of the drain near the firewall, use air or water to dislodge dirt.
