Low Beam Conversion

I have seen some trucks driving around that when their high beams are on the lows stay on. After looking at the wiring diagram I see that if I just ground them it would work but since the high and lows run off the same fuse what are odds of burning something up?

I have a brush guard now and it inhibits the highs enough to where I cant see directly in front of me at night. Thanks

Re: Low Beam Conversion

sounds like you have the wrong brush guard. a good fitting one will let all your lights shine so every one can see them.

gounding a light out will make a short you will blow a fuse.

Re: Low Beam Conversion

Its not shorting them, its just having both sets on at once. My question is if the bus bar in the fuse block big enough in that area so that it wont melt.

Re: Low Beam Conversion

Hella makes a relay kit so that you can have all 4 headlights on at one time.you need to add a relay and a few wires but it comes in the kit.

i did it on my 90 k1500 4x4

Re: Low Beam Conversion

I have no problem wiring relays I was just wondering if there was an easier way b/c I plan on having a bunch of relays for accessorys(ie Kc Daylighters, elec cooling fans, HID headlights) and wanted to keep the clean look as much as possable.

Re: Low Beam Conversion

Try searching for this. I seem to remember a mod where you just jumpered a wire and it completed the 4 light mod. I have it done to my truck. Also, if you look hard enough there is an 8-light nod where your fogs/drl/lows/highs all are on... looks sick!

Re: Low Beam Conversion

I've done this mod on my 2000 about a year ago with no probs. You add a jumper wire to the relay under the fuse/relay box under the hood.
Do a search on this.

Re: Low Beam Conversion

Here you go, I have done these on my old 2000 silverado, and then have done this on my 2005 and it takes less that 20 minutes for each.
