97 Bonniville supercharger woes
The super charger on our 97 bonni is making a rattling noise. I put my hand on it with the engine on and can feel the rattling also. I am assuming the supercharger needs to be replaced. Noticed rebuild kits online. Is this something a non mechanic can do, or should I get a entire new unit? Just replaced the altenator now this.

Re: 97 Bonniville supercharger woes
A "rattling noise" would indicate the drive coupler in the snout is worn out. Remove the belt and see if you have any loose motion while turning the pulley back & forth. If this proves to be the problem, it is not that difficult to replace the coupler, but it would be best to install a rebuilt snout at the same time; otherwise, a front seal replacement will be the next thing on your agenda.
