1994 c1500 wont start

My fathers truck just wouldn't start one day I've tried to start it and i got the whole crank and everything, there was just no pick up so it continued to crank. Someone told him that the distributor might be messing up and not picking up, but im not sure on carburetors. I checked the wires that plugs into the distributor and they all look good. i can smell gas in the carburetor and i tried to check the fuel pressure but i cant find the pressure valve to check it. I tried to look up the info on the internet and they kept telling me it was a manual pump so im pretty lost on this if you can give me direction i would appreciate it.

Pour a small amount of gas down in the throttle body and then try to start it. My truck got where it wouldn't start and it was the fuel pump.

a neighbor mechanic came over and started playing with the carb, he poured gasoline into the carb and it fired up, so apparently we need a fuel pump thx for the help.

1994 chevy c1500 suburb is not carbed has electric fuel pump in gas tank not mechanical. That said you should check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay before you try to replace pump. Also when you turn key on have someone listen by gas tank you should hear, for a few seconds, the hum of the fuel pump if you dont hear do the checks I referenced if you hear it you may have clogged fuel filter or weak pump. Then you need to check fuel pressure. You could have bad ground by gas tank that would stop fuel pump just something else to check. good luck

Re: 1994 c1500 wont start

there is a 10a fuse inside veh labled ecm b that powers fuel pump relay that is usually hanging on pass side firewall. the org wire should have 12volts when someone turns key on it for afew seconds, also has a red wire with connector that if hooked to B+ should power pump this is a prime connection but can serve as a test of fuel pump.
