Question Directions for Reprogramming Keyless Entry for 2000 Town & Country Lxi?

I hope someone can help me out here. Been searching the web for instructions to use to re-program my fobs for a Chrysler Town & Country Lxi. Fobs are from our totaled 99 Dodge Grand Caravan and a local dealer already checked to tell me they are compatible. I hope this is something I can take care of on my own as same dealer would gladly take care of it for me ...for 45.00 and tax EACH. I know this model (T&C) also has a feature that remembers seat and mirror settings for multiple drivers too and that is likely a feature that would require actually ordering new fobs and THEN having them programed so I guess accesssing that feature is not as important to me as saving the $$ and using those fobs I already have. Thanks a bunch to anyone with the information I need. Kathy

Can you add one fob or do you have to reprogram all of the fobs? Reading my manual it seems ambiguous.

Thanks.

You can add one fob without reprogramming all of them. Maximum of 4........2 primary (with memory seat/mirror functionality) and 2 secondary.

programming remote keyless entry

I have tried following the directions in the manual to program the remotes, they seem simple enough ... but I cannot get them programmed ?

I have checked the batteries and two different remotes, still no joy ?

Is there anything in the vehicle that could be disabled, which would stop them from working ?

thanks in advance
mike

For my 2003 you have to program ALL the remotes at one time. You cannot just "add" one remote to the others. When you get the system into program mode you have to do all the remotes you have at one time.

Re: Directions for Reprogramming Keyless Entry for 2000 Town & Country Lxi?

I've recently bought a second remote for my 2000 T & C, tried following the directions posted by kreilly111, but I still can't get it to work. The battery is good because I put it into the original, working remote, so does anyone else have any ideas? Also, I don't know how many could have already been programmed for this vehicle. When I bought it, there was only one. Please help asap as this vehicle is used by two people - it's driving us nuts

You have to put key in and turn it on (don't start engine).
Hold the unlock button 5-15 seconds.
While holding unlock button press panic button.
Release unlock and panic button at same time.
You should hear a bell indicating program mode.
Now on all remotes, push and release lock and unlock buttons at the same time and then push and release any button on the same remote.
You should hear a bell after each remote is programmed indicating success.

that only works if you already have a key already programmed, which I do not ...

Re: Directions for Reprogramming Keyless Entry for 2000 Town & Country Lxi?

Check out my post that I wrote on the thread titled "How do I Program the keyless for 2001 intrepid". It's straight out of the Mopar service manuals. It's the same for the 2000 T & C.
