Colin McRae 2001 Ford Focus WRC

Hello Everyone:

Here’s the completed Focus WRC 2001 (progress thread can be found here). I originally entered the Burns/McRae/Park tribute build with this car, but disaster struck during clearcoating, and some decals were damaged as a result (namely the Pirelli decal on the right side of the rear bumper). Therefore the model was shelved until earlier this year, when I decided to finish it off. It’s pretty much box stock, with the addition of Modeler’s seatbelts, Hobby Design’s tire valves, and MSM Creation's Ford emblems. Onto the pics:

Comments and criticisms are always welcomed!

Cheers,

Nam

Looks like very clean job.
Some critics: front lamps doesn't look very real. I think you should do black outline on them. It will improve overall look.

Looks really nice! Did you have any issues with the decals, they look tricky to apply, did you use any softener etc. And finally what clear did you use? I have heard that Tamiya decals react badly to Tamiya clear.

I have read you progress thread now which answers my questions! Should have read it to start with!

Re: Colin McRae 2001 Ford Focus WRC

Thanks for everyone's comments!

haas-al: Thanks for the criticism! I did consider painting the front lens surrounds black, but since the lens themselves fit tightly (actually needed to use quite a bit of force to push them into place), I fear leaving some black scratch marks on the front bumper. Will do that on my other models though.

Viccario: That's ok. Some of the decals were tricky to apply, and I used Tamiya clear for this model, which turned out to be not so good of a choice
